Bwindi Gorilla Safari

4 days Bwindi Gorilla Safari incorporates gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and game drive, launch cruise in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is in Southwestern Uganda and it inhabits the largest population of mountain gorillas than any other gorilla destination. Besides, there are also over 350 bird species including the African green broadbill; 220 butterfly species, 27 frog species, reptiles and several plant species. Gorilla treks in Bwindi National Park begin from Rushaga, Nkuringo, Ruhija or Buhoma area. This park was gazetted in 1991 and became a UNESCO Heritage Site in 1994.

Queen Elizabeth National Park is positioned in Western Uganda and it derived its name from Queen Elizabeth the second after her visit in this wilderness area. This park sits in an area of about 1978sq.kms and it largely comprises of a vast savanna where a huge concentration of wildlife species is confined including Africa bush elephants, buffaloes, leopards, lions; warthogs, over 620 bird species, hyenas, antelopes as well as hippos, crocodiles. Your safari commences and ends in Kampala/Entebbe.

BWINDI GORILLA SAFARI DETAILED ITINERARY

Today, you will be picked by the driver guide and you head out to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Your journey will cover 8-9 hours depending on the route and it involves a stopover at Uganda Equator crossing for photo taking and Igongo Cultural Center for lunch. Continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to check in at the lodge.

Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park involves exploring and experiencing in depth about mountain gorillas. This primate adventure commences with you waking up early to have breakfast and after, have some packed lunch and bottled drinking water then join other trekkers for briefing. At 8:00am once you have got to know the gorilla group to trek, the park ranger guide will lead you into the jungles to search for these rare apes and this may cover 2-6 hours including one hour of magical encounter. Return to the lodge to relax and in the evening, enjoy your evening interacting with the Batwa pygmies in their community

After breakfast, check out of the gorilla lodge in Bwindi and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park that is 3 hours. Through Ishasha sector, don’t miss to catch a glimpse at the tree climbing lions plus other savanna dwellers like elephants, buffaloes, birds to mention but a few. You will have lunch and, in the afternoon, set off for launch trip along Kazinga channel for you to look for hippos, crocodiles, water birds and many other wildlife species. This is a 3-4 hours’ experience and later, get back to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and a night stay

Check out of your lodge and drive back to Kampala/Entebbe. However, in Mbarara you will have a stopover for you to have lunch in Agip Motel or Igongo Cultural Center.
